Log Cabin Restaurant

The Hansens built the Log Cabin Restaurant in 1984 on land that had been in the family for over 30 years. Norman Hansen, the founder, cleared the land with chain saws and chose a location for the main building. After the foundation was poured and had set, he began setting the first row of logs on a cold 5 degree morning in March of 1984. The restaurant opened for business on the fourth of July with the parking lot hot asphalt having just been laid that morning. Since then it has been an exciting and remarkable journey. At the peak they employed over 125 people. In 2004, after having run the restaurant for over 20 years, the property was sold to another local family. But in 2016, after having been in the convenience store and truck stop business for 12 years the Hansen’s are buying back the restaurant property. They are now back to a very familiar routine and working hard again to serve the families and tourists of Mount Desert Island.

 It is one of the largest restaurants on Mount Desert Island. Parking is private and plentiful and just a few minutes outside the town of Bar Harbor. The cuisine and ambiance are classic Maine. We hope you enjoy your visit here this summer!

The Log Cabin Restaurant has a complete full service bar, where you can relax and watch the sports or the weather while you wait for your table, or you may choose to have your appetizer or meal right there on the oak bar. The friendly relaxed atmosphere will bring you back again and again.

Located right next to Pirates Cove Adventure Golf and two miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park.

We are open for business from June 9 until Columbus Day. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our hours are 7am to 9pm seven days a week.
